Last time I posted on this blog, I was just beginning to start my college search. And now as I sit here 5 months later, I can say that after looking at all of my options I have chosen the best school for me; the school in my own backyard, BSU.

As I have worked my way through this journey, I felt as if I have actually drifted further away from those people that I once considered "close friends". I have now learned to use this term more sparingly than in the past, as those who might've seemed to fit the category have recently shown me that they don't deserve such a title at all. I say this because, as I leaned more towards going to this school that was nearby, I gained harsh criticism from those certain people. At first I cowered when they would furrow their brows and denounce me as one of those who will "never-leave-this-god-forsaken-town". And I must say, I took their criticisms to heart, and even began to question my own thinking. But I am older now and, if only 5 months more, I feel that I am a changed person. When I am asked of my post-secondary choice, I no longer cower in shame, but I hold my head high and look them straight in the eyes. And when they pile on their harsh criticisms, I am able to tell them what I think of their acrid reiviews.

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

Memoirs of a Geisha, a movie to check out

I went into this movie thinking that the premise was going to be dull and the plot too thin. However, this was not the case. The movie is about the life of a geisha, a woman who does not sell herself as if a prostitute would, but as an entertainer, an art form to be admired and adored. The movie follows the story of a young girl who becomes a geisha after both of her parents die and her sister runs away. You get a wonderful story plus another perspective of life in Japan at the time of pre, during, and post WW2. Definitely worth your time and money.

CBC: A Fresh Perspective

I have recently found interest in watching the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) when it has news on. Its nice, because usually they have stories on things that American channels wouldn't take the time to bother with. For instance, this evening they had a story on trying to help stop the violence in Darfur, Sudan. This is a story that no American channel would probably ever air. Nowadays, if the story doesnt include the Middle East, then it doesn't have much of a chance getting any air time.
So this is why I enjoy watching the CBC News. Its always a good thing to get a different perspective.

The Best

There are just some things in this world that are the best. Sometimes a situation, or a food, or even a person. Like soup after running in the rain, or finding 20 dollars in a parking lot. But I guess this all really depends on who you are. I'm sure that Michael Jackson's idea of a good thing is no where near mine. It all depends on the person.

Hanso Exposed is, well, interesting.

Recently I came upon an interesting video clip at You Tube.
